Creamsicle dreamsicle

I am so in love with these new orange-vanilla cupcakes. I’m calling them Creamsicles.

It’s a pound cake that I made with vanilla sugar instead of regular sugar – you can see the specks in the frosting and the pound cake, both. The extra vanilla gives it such a rich flavor… that’s definitely one of my favorite baking “secrets.” I added the juice and zest of an orange to the batter, along with my homemade buttermilk and some special lemon extract I have. I candied some orange slices and topped them with an orange-vanilla-flavored cream cheese frosting, and Josh just swooned over them.

He said these were the best cupcakes ever. And from someone who doesn’t like sweets, that’s means a lot.

Now, does anyone out there want to give me the opportunity to try making these into a layer cake? :)

    I would LOVE to give you the opportunity to make it into a layer cake!

    But then I’d have to eat it…. all by myself….. and all in one night…. because there would be no one there to stop me…

    And I’d have to drink a whole gallon of milk to wash it down…

    Then I’d be awake at 0230 with acid reflux… and I wouldn’t get back to sleep till 0653….

    Ummm, I think I just wait till you make one for your family and I’ll BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEGGGGGG you to invite me over so I could have a slice… or two….
