Bridal dress redo, part 4
See part 1 here, 2 here, 3 here.
The dress bodice is coming along very nicely. We had some false starts with the shaping as we struggled to find our path between historical accuracy and modern curvy lines, but by the third – fourth? – fitting, this is what we have:
This is just the corset, the structure underneath all the pretty that is to come. Once the fine fabric has been attached it will be turned inside-out, so that about 1/2″ will disappear off all edges except the bottom – thus the straps will be thinner, the neckline a touch lower.
I love it – I think it’s absolutely perfect and gives such a sweetly curved, slender silhouette. I knew it was good when she put it on and I was jealous – now I want one for myself! -laugh-
So OK for the undergarments: now on to the real work.
