Ha! Not my fault!

So I recently went in for a yearly checkup. My doctor was concerned that I’m overweight – according to the charts – by at least 15 pounds. I replied that I was so frustrated – I go to the gym 3 times a week, I rock climb twice a week for at least 3 hours at a time, my job entails manual labor, my favorite hobby is vegetable gardening (which means lots of shoveling!), and I bike to work. How much more active could I get? I eat hardly any sugar, and use only olive oil (except in baking).

She stared at me and said “How in hell can you do all that and still weigh 150?!?” Well, that’s pretty much how I feel too.

And now there’s a reason why – they’ve discovered a skinny gene! Read the article at NBC’s website: http://www.nbc5i.com/health/14047961/detail.html

Okay, okay, I know that doesn’t solve my problem. And it’s not an excuse to give up, either. But it’s nice to know that maybe – just maybe  – it’s not entirely my fault.
