Halloween

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been more than 3 weeks since I’ve blogged. I don’t think that’s happened since like… maybe 2007. As you might have guessed, my health is still not up to snuff; still anemic (up just 1 point) and now hypoglycemic too (after the glucose blood test). I’ve been having dizzy spells where I nearly – but not quite, yet – topple over, a few times a day. I’m on a new diet that’s heavy on the protein, they’ve upped my iron supplements, and I even made myself eat liver last night. That’s right. Mama choked it down.

Anyway, today was a good day so I hope to catch up on some blogging. And first of everything, Halloween!

We waited until just a couple days before to get our pumpkins. Grandma and Grandpa were here, and it was so much fun to go with them.

Guess what Sofía wanted to be…

Commander Data! So I whipped together a little Star Trek magic from felt, sparkly silver Fimo, and some circular buttons (rank markers, on her collar).

She got to carve her own pumpkin, and loved it. I held her hand while she used the knife, and she kept saying “Braaaaains! Braaaains!” while she scooped the seeds out.

Hers is the small one on the second step.

Grandma and Grandpa came trick or treating with us. She was pretty warm since I used wool felt, and only needed me to warm up her hands occasionally since she insisted on carrying her own bucket. And she was mostly very polite and remembered her thank-yous.

Most of all she liked looking at the decorations. She had really, really wanted to decorate our yard this year, but I am loathe to spend money on yard decorations for a silly holiday when we get zero trick or treaters … no I take it back, this year we had two. But it looks like I may have to budge a bit next year.

She called it quits pretty early, and it was back home for cocoa and a bedtime story.
