Thanksgiving 2011

A good time with great friends.

Apple crisp

A new-to-us fancy silk dress with smocking and petticoats – thanks Kris!

Sofía’s handmade placecards on my grandmother’s china, our wedding crystal and my other grandma’s silver. Past family generations are remembered in the creation of new traditions.

Smoked turkey breast. Sofía said it was her favorite part – even more than the mushrooms, which are usually her favorite food.

Garlic-butter roast mushrooms – unbelievably good and now a staple for every special dinner.

Apple-cranberry-orange relish (which Sofía loved) and Brussels sprouts roasted with chestnuts, in brown-butter velouté with caramelized shallots.

And pumpkin-seeded challah rolls and buttermilk mashed potatoes and vegan cranberry sausage stuffing and honey pecan ice cream and pumpkin pie. (All homemade of course). Aaaah.

And good friends.

We have so much to be thankful for.

so glad you could celebrate with Taznimah and Co. (The kids are especially cute.) Say Hi to all.The brussels sprouts recipe sounds wonderful…with the pumpkin pie and honey pecan ice cream…did you do that too? YUM all around.

We split the cooking duties, which made it SO much easier! T’s husband made the ice cream, and it was so good!
