Two Ted Talks

If you are familiar with Ted Talks, you’ll know that they’re almost unfailingly informative, interesting, and well put-together. SofĂa and I watched two today that I’d like to share with you.

If you’re at all interested in the intersection of food, government, food corporation profits and American health, please watch and share these talks. They’re not too long, and the information in them really needs to be disseminated and made common knowledge.

I didn’t watch the videos, but I have no idea why a mom would actually let their kids eat the crapy school lunches, unless they are on the, “My kids gets to eat for free” list.

I used to work with kids in downtown DC at one of the approved free-lunch facilities. Almost every day, lunch was a single slice of american cheese between two (dry) pieces of wonderbread. There was a baggie with carrot sticks (which the kids threw away) and a bag of Cheetos. And this is what we expect kids to thrive on?
