Of all the times to be sick

It hurts to breathe. It hurts to swallow. It hurts to talk.

Poor ButterBean is just as sick as I am, running alternate low and high temperatures. I was up with her all night last night, and she wouldn’t stop crying. The on-call nurse kept tabs on her temperature by calling every so often as I tried to warm her up. It was so frightening; she was wrapped in three warm layers under the covers in bed with me, in a warm summer evening, and was still so cold. Eventually she warmed up a bit and we escaped having to make an emergency room visit by 0.4 degrees.

Today we bought our new house in the morning and all day long I kept on packing, sniffling, and minding a sick, sleep-deprived baby who seemed determined to try and eat the dishwasher soap and was busily unpacking everything I had just packed. We made it to the doctor’s office in the afternoon.

Though the Doc thinks ButterBean just has a random cold, apparently I have been additionally graced with big raw gross mystery blisters on the back of my throat. No wonder if hurts to swallow.

It probably would be a little better already if the doctor’s office had actually faxed in my prescription to the pharmacy like they were supposed to – but by the time I got to the CVS and found it hadn’t come in, the doctor’s office was closed. I do feel a little better after eating some dinner, and I will take some tylenol before going to an early bed, but I do wish I had my antibiotics. How could they forget?

J swears he will spend tomorrow moving stuff and being industrious. We will see if he manages to pull himself out of the sucking, seductive embrace of the intarwebs.

to get warm faster, use the microwave or the dryer to warm the blankets or clothes & then wrap the patient (s) up in them. works for us.
